Hi,

I am trying to setup a capture source for Leadtek DVT 1000T card. Going thru this forum I was able to setup a BDA capture source for this card, but that only gives me the freeview channels.

I have connected my sky STB to the S-Video input of the card and I can view it when using the WinFast software that came with the card as it allows me to switch sources. However, I'm struggling to set it up in GBPVR as a capture source.

More reading in this forum pointed out that I need to set a capture source using the "Direct Recording Plugin". However, when I attempt to do that, I do not find my card listed in dropdown. Help please!! I am really stuckSad

Best Regards,

Sorry the analog side of this device lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder so isnt usable in GB-PVR.

After hours of searching thru the forum I was finally able to get it to work by adding an entry for the card in the DIRECT.INI file. Following is what I added and I can now get the s-video input to the card to play fine in Live TV.

Following is the entry I added for anyone interested.

Code:
[Leadtek WinFast DVT1000 T]
INIT_MODE=DEFAULT
INIT_MSP=0
CONEXANT=1
FILTER_CROSSBAR=WinFast DTV1000 T WDM Crossbar.
FILTER_CAPTURE=WinFast DTV1000 T WDM Video Capture.
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_TUNER_IN=Video Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_TUNER_IN=Audio Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_COMPOSITE_IN=Video Composite In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_SVIDEO_IN=Video SVideo In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_DECODER_OUT=Video Decoder Out
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_DECODER_OUT=Audio Decoder Out
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDEO_IN=Analog Video In
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_AUDIO_IN=Audio Line In
PIN_CAPTURE_I2S_OUT=I2S
PIN_CAPTURE_656_OUT=656
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

Now however, I have another problem. I tried doing my first recording and follwing is what happened:
1) I started GBPVR.exe and navigated to the Live TV menu and selected the svideo channel that I had setup and go the video onscreen. I then clicked on the recording button in the OSD and selected "record until I exit Live TV" and then clicked the record button.
2) When I did this the screen went blank but there was HD activity so assumed something was happening. I waited for about 1 minute and the hit the esc key and was returned to the main menu.
3) I then navigated to the Recordings menu and found my recording there. When I tried to play it though, it just wouldn't play.
4) I then went to the folder where the recording file was stored and tried to play it in WMP and it wouldn't play either. I then tried playing it using VLC media player and it played - only the sound and not the video. In other words, there was no video.

Oh! BTW I'm using the DScaler decoder for video and audio and I have the Deinterlace set to "None". GBPVR.exe crashes on opening if I have the Deinterlace set to "Encoder pass-thru". This is another thing I do not fully understand.

I'm completely lost here and need some help. (...I need some sleep too)

I'm attaching the log files for anyone who wants to have a look at it.

Best Regards,

Sorry, as I said above it lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder. As you've discovered, you can watch live preview live tv, but you wont be able to record with this device. The device outputs the wrong type of data. GB-PVR expects to get MPEG2 data out of the capture card, but this card is not outputting this type of data.

That makes sense now Sub. Many thanks. I guess this card will have to go back to ebuyer.

Which card would you suggest for my needs:
1) Want to be able to pass my sky STB thru the card (audio and video), so as to be able to pause live tv and also schedule recordings
2) Want to be able to view and record VHS/Camcorder video/audio
3) Want to be able to receive DVB-T channels again being able to pause and schedule recordings

I was considering the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1300. Will it do what I want to achieve. Please also suggest any other card as well that better fits my needs as I'm a novice at this and am trying to setup my first HTPC.

My computer spec is as follows:
[INDENT]MSI K9AGM2-FIH motherboard with onboard HDMI output
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ (2.1GHz) Socket AM2 Energy Efficient L2 1MB (2x512KB) Cache
Kingston 1GB DDR2 667MHz / PC2-5300 MEMORY CL5 1.8V NON ECC UNBUFFERED
Samsung SpinPoint HD501LJ 500GB SATAII Hard Drive 16MB Cache
Samsung SH-S183 SATA 18x DVD±RW/RAM Black
Antec NSK2480 MATX Desktop Case Black & Silver - With 380W EarthWatts PSU[/INDENT]
Help please!

Yeah, the Hauppauge HVR1300 is the only card that comes to mind for me.

Thanks Sub. I've registered an RMA with a request to exchange the card for the HVR1300. Let's see what happens. Will try to set it up once I receive it. As for now, I guess I can do nothing but wait for the card to arrive. How frustrating is that!!:mad:

Many Thanks again.
