I've been working off and on now for 9 months on a PVR for ATSC HD. Most of my problems have had to do with stuttering, but I upgraded my mother board/processor, and can now run perfectly with the -fse option. I currently have a single Dvico FusionHDTV tuner card. Before I can finally cancel my cable TV, I need to add a 2nd tuner to appease my wife. My question is this:

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2nd tuner card based on compatbility with the Fusion and price/performance? It would be an added bonus if the card would support QAM under GBPVR, however this isn't mandatory (since the whole reason for creating the PVR was to get rid of cable and go with OTA programming). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, are there any cards that come with a better remote control than the one supplied with the fusion?

Some models (not "white box" or MCE) of the HVR-1600 come with the Hauppauge remote, which I think works really well and is highly integrated with GB-PVR. I have just purchased the card and it hasn't arrived yet, but everything I've read here on the forums says it works great.

However, do not purchase the HVR-1800 (the PCIe version of the 1600) because it appears that no one has gotten that one working completely yet.

Edit: Forgot to mention that this card is a dual tuner - the ATSC side does QAM too and the other tuner is a standard definition tuner.

I read somewhere on the internet that the 1600 also comes with an FM tuner. Does anyone know if this is true or not, and if so, can the FM tuner capability be accessed in GBPVR?

I'm not sure about the FM tuner on the 1600 (I'm pretty sure that mine doesn't have it), but GB-PVR versions prior to 1.08 did allow FM tuning. However, it has not be enabled in the newest version. According to the last post of saw from Sub, he plans on adding it back, but it hasn't happened yet.

Also, you can listen to the radio, but you not record it (recording is a much requested "Wishlist" item, but has not yet made an appearance).

Cyclone,
Do you know if you can control any other equipment with the Hauppauge control (like TV, Receiver, DVD player, etc)? Can you enter codes for different equipment? Any programming capability?

By the way, I did find out there is a new 1600 (model1101) which has the FM tuner included. I searched the GBPVR forums but could not find any mention if anyone has got this running or not.

FM Tuner comes on the MCE version of the card. The 1600 built-in IR blaster is not programmable, but does support a number of popular devices. The MCE version of the 1600, though not listed in the list of support tuner, should work since they're both practically the same card.
