Okay, so I've been using GBPVR for a while now. And after the recent upgrade to 1.0.16, I was forced to spend a little more time getting intimate with GBPVR to get it to where it had been before the upgrade.

Now I'm curious about where I could go from here. I'm seeing that GBPVR has an amazing array of plugins and skins that I could potentially use, but it seems like a basic understanding of GBPVR manipulates those skins and plugins is really useful, and it's something I definitely don't have. So, rather then fumble my way through, I was wondering if there was starting tips/docs/faqs that I could refer to before I start breaking the $@#% out of my configuration.

FWIW, it seems like it might be worth mentioning that the current number one purpose of GBPVR for me is as an interface for my MVP.

Believe me, if I can get started this way it'll save us ALL headache in the long run. Smile

Thanks!!

Well, in my honest opinion, now isn't the right time to start tweaking GBPVR. The app itself is in a state of major transition and it seems like most of the skin and plugin developers are either taking a wait and see approach or dropping out of the game entirely. If I were you, I would stick with the basics (i.e. what we know works) until sub and the community have had a chance to develop 1.x further.

If you still want to tweak then I'd recommend installing one of the previous, more robust versions of GBPVR. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the .98.16 flavor was a favorite around here. It supported the most skins/plugins as well as being highly tweakable. Smile

I'd look at the wiki Utilities list and Plugins list, see what interests you, and then read the description to make sure it works with the newest version of GBPVR. My main word of warning is most plugins require editing .bat files and using command line windows and things like that. None of which I particularly enjoy. There is not really any 1-2-3 method that covers installing extra stuff. They all install a bit differently.

I thought I'd use (the awesome) transcoding more but I don't much at the moment, but once I got that and (the awesome) ComSkip working, everything else is gravy. If you want an easy one, add the Weather plugin. Very nice.

On my first use of GBPVR I had problems with other skins "being up to date" or whatever error I'd get. Just seems like another thing to break to me, and I only see the skin 1% of the time, so I stay away from the optional skins.
