Hello guys and ladies,

i'm having a weird problem over here: My GBPVR client (in streaming mode) crashes as soon as i want to playback a recording.

History:
I've had the server running on (WinXP+SP2, GBPVR 1.0.16, Cinergy1200C DVB-C, HVR1300 analog), and experienced some issues recording from one particular transponder, and some other performance and reliability-issues.
So i tried Windows 2003 Server (which didn't work with my TV-card drivers when i tried for the very first time) again, and surprisingly got it to work with both cards.
When using the XP-Server, i had GBPVR 1.0.16 installed on my workstation PC and configured as a client using streaming, which worked quite flawlessly.
Sometimes the client got into a race-condition (100% CPU, no response) when trying to start playing a video-file (respectively switching channels on LiveTV), but i could live with that.

Now that i have reinstalled the server running on Win2003, i couldn't connect anymore, giving "object reference not set..." errors when starting pvrx2.exe.
So i reinstalled GBPVR on the client machine, including manual deletion of the gbpvr directory.
Now, no matter how i set the Decoders, the client immediately crashes when i try to play any file (Recording or LiveTV). I tried various Decoder-settings, and GBPVR.exe shows the exact same behaviour.

Playback works fine on the server itself, and on the MVPs.

Any clues what could be wrong?

Cheers,
jEb

BTW: Firewalls are all turned off. Wink

Unfortunately I cant see any obvious cause in the logs.

Does anybody have recommendations for me how i could try isolating the problem? If the GBPVR client doesn't work on my PC, i have no more reason not to install Linux! Rolleyes

double check you can open files on the server machine from the client machine with a program outside gbpvr
(if you cant get this to work good luck with linux) Smile
check that the permissions are all set right so the client can change files on the server not just read them
