ok, well i'm new to the PVR thing as well as GBPVR.

i've messed around w/ tv tuners years ago before the PVR thing was even really around as it is now but never did i have a IR blaster or anything like that.

well now i'm sittingh ere w/ my new PVR 150 MCE, came with a MCE remote (its none of the 4 on the wiki, its black and has an extra buton underneath all the colors, doesn't say microsoft or hauppauge on it. but its definately an MCE remote though. any idea what it is?

and also, i'd like to have the green button open GBPVR exclusively, i had read somewhere on some forum (i've done a lot of searching the past few days, forgive the vagueness please Smile ) and i remember seeing something about modifying a .ini file. any idea what that is? or is there any better of a way? not only would i like the green button exclusive, but every button Smile

oh, not just that, but now i'm wondering how to get it to properly change my directv's set-top-box. i have the tv guide all set up, a subscription to schedules direct and yet i can't see to get it setup right. when i press buttons on the remote the receiver flashes red so its recognizing it, but it doesnt seem to effect the directv box at all. any help?

system is:
vista ultimate x64
hauppauge wintv pvr 150 MCE
MCE remote and IR Blaster
and directv D11 set-top-box

please help Wink it's a lot of questions i know but if you want to answer just one i'd prefer the one about getting it to change the directv box more than anything so i dont have to use 2 remotes.

thanks much, and sorry for the lots of questions thing... i DID search a lot though Sad

well i got bored and wanted to see if maybe my drivers were rubbish, but they appear to be fine. i loaded up windows media center and it configured the remote fine and i'm able to change channels and all that jazz easily. I would still however prefer to use GBPVR over WMC so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

i've got it set up to use MCE2005 IR Blaster as the channel changer in the capture sources screen. and nothing appears to work, i can turn volume down and up but thats not really much of anything Smile

its acting like its "changing" channels but in reality its just changing channels on screen. any help? Smile

thanks again

The built in 'MCE2005 IR Blaster' channel changer option was never really finished. It worked well enough that some people started using, so I decided against removing it. These days I just recommend people use HIP or Girder (or EventGhost?) if they need to use an MCE IR Blaster. There are details about setting this up on the wiki.

tried setting up HIP, but i get a runtime error 216 upon pressing the shortcut to open it Undecided not sure whats wrong, looked around online and reports say it works fine in vista 32-bit but i'm on 64 maybe thats it. i'll look into girder.

any suggestions on how to get it so buttons don't automatically open up media center and what not? like the guide button automatically opens up media center into the guide screen, even if i'm using PVRX2

Sorry no, I've not had to do this myself. I'm not using MCE. I've seen posts about it in the past though so try the forum search.

you need to disable wmc The "ehtray" is what you need to stop do search how to stop it loading then use hip to open the program using start button(this is for xp may be different in vista)

if your remote is a true mce one gbpvr(pvrx2) will just work once its running no need to add any buttons just make sure you have mce remote selected in config if that doesnt work you could try hauppauge remote selection
