Hi,

Just upgraded from a previous version of GB-PVR (which I've run for many months) to the lastest (1.1.5). I have gone through the setup and performed the tuning of channels and they all get picked up OK, i.e. in the Config/CaptureSources area I can see channel video and hear audio fine. I can watch recorded TV ok too.

When I go to watch live TV it doesn't work. Screen goes black for a second or two and then goes back to menu. In the error log I see:

Code:

Questions

[1] Can anyone help please re the above?

[2] I have my XP firewall off, however there is Cybersitter filtering software running on the PC but I did turn it off and try too.

[3] After the upgrade I see to be able to run the old UI and the new UI. Should both of these work ok? That is "GBPRV" and "PVRX2.exe". Should both of these work? Was I suppose to uninstall the old version before installing the latest?

[4] Does the tray icon need to be running? I'm assuming not and that this is an optional extra? Just that it seems to be playing up, but I'd rather focus on getting live TV back and working again first.

I've attached logs if this helps too. I couldn't myself see anything more significant than what I've attached above. Note that it was at 21:45 that I clicked "LIVE TV" => after a couple of seconds of black screen the menu just came back.

Thanks
Greg

No, the tray app doesnt need to be running, but this may be a good clue. The tray app is slow to respond, and misbehaves when the recording service isnt running. If it wasnt running then you would also get this error shown above when you tried to access live tv.

So, check if it is running. If its not, then did it die, or was it manually shutdown. The recording service log you included shows an orderly shutdown, not a crash.

Hi Sub,

Did some testing. The recording service was running (based on "net start" check). I'm not sure if the recording service is working properly however as I noted a show last night that was scheduled to be recorded didn't get recorded (unfortunately I cleared the logs this morning before rebooting to do the checks below).

What would you recommend next? I'm thinking:
a) schedule a short recording to confirm if recording service is working properly and get logs
b) totally uninstall CyberSitter (filtering software) and test again. I do also have AVG virus checker installed?

Results and logs from this mornings test below:

7am - Restart Computer
- could not seem to click or right click on tray icon to get it to respond

7.19 - manually END'ed GBPVRTray.exe

Solved!

I completely un-installed CyberSitter (filtering software) and rebooted. Everything works fine now Smile Not sure why the lastest release of gbpvr was more sensitive to this.

I'm about to get a cheap PC and run the free ClarkConnect linux based firewall/filtering software on it instead of having to load software on each PC!

Thanks
Greg
