DHCP Question

The writer, Tipstir, seems to be a SageTV user but I wondered, does this apply to GBPVR? I thought that once an IP address was given by the DHCP server, it was permanent until switch off. What would cause a router to "drop the connection"?

I wouldn't listen to tipster too much. If your not having problems then there is no need to worry/fiddle.

Can an MVP confirm this is ok?

The mvp leases a new IP address when you first plug it in and again after the dongle is transfered and loaded. Afterwards, it has to renew the lease every 8 hours or so. My recommendation, assuming you are in the majority and have a router with stable firmware, is to leave your router's DHCP alone and let it manage these relatively simple tasks by itself.
