I fell victim to the problem wherein gbpvr creates a folder for a recording, yet creates no recording file. The status says it's recording, but no file is created. This was on a fresh install.
I had recently reinstalled windows and set up gbpvr and all was well. Then, due to a hdd problem, had to nuke and re-install windows again. This time, I started getting the above problem.
So how can it be that two installations, one after another, don't work the same? I checked all the config settings, everything fine.
Then I realized the one thing I had done differently on the second install. I had only downloaded the critical updates from M$oft, not the additional ones. One of those additional updates was a driver for my Sapphire Theatrix 550, cheap version of ATI 550. Once I ran all those updates, everything is fine. I could have also downloaded the driver from ATI.
So if you have that issue, make sure you have the latest driver for your capture card.
