I got a Nova-TD tuner for Christmas to work in addition with my existing twin tuner Nova-T 500. I've switched the TD from diversity mode to dual tuner and I've set up all four tuners as capture sources. Each tuner has scanned all channels in GBPVR, and according to ScanBDA they all run between 100% and 80% quality.

The weird thing is that they don't work together yet individually they all work fine. To test I tried recording from all four, but only the shows on Card 1 Tuner 2, and Card 2 Tuner 1 actually recorded, the other's didn't get a signal so although a folder was created for them, now file was inside and while recording all were listed in the recording status screen.

Even more weird, a working tuner "loses" it's signal another tuner is activated. For example I flicked to Live TV with nothing recording. I got perfect picture etc. and was using C1, T2. Yet when I set a random program to record (which did so on C2, T1) and went back to Live TV I got the No Signal Strength screen even though this was the same tuner of moments ago (C1, T2)!

So something, somewhere is conflicting, either in GBPVR or the card drivers. Anyone got any ideas?

you have selected device #1 and device #2 for the nova-t
device #1 and device #2 for the nova-td
unless they use the exact same drivers then it would be device 1 through 4

When I set up the capture sources, I just ticked the "Show Installed Devices" box and chose them from that. How can I specify Device 3 and 4 if they are listed a 1 and 2 on the system?

Also notice I've not updated the signature, I'm on 1.0.16.

Of coarse! Ah I feel a right muppet now. When i added the new card, I number tuners device 1 and 2 AGAIN so the clashed with the original devices 1 and 2. Idiot!

Thanks for the help stustunz, i'll re-number the devices and stand in the corner of shame!

im not 100% what the numbering should be
it will either be 1234 if they use the exact same drivers ie 2 identical cards
or 1,2 ,1,2 if they use 2 different drivers

Have you setup capture sources using the "Hauppauge Nova-TD Tuner 1" - "Hauppauge Nova-TD Tuner 4" devices, each set to device #1?

If so, schedule a recording on all four at the same time, then zip and attach the logs after those recordings start and I'll take a look.

Got it sorted now. What confused me was the subtle difference between "Nova-TD" and "Nova-DT". For some reason, when I click "show only installed devices" it lists Nova-DT #1 & 2 as alternates for my Nova-500 card (must both have the same filter name). Not reading closely enough, when I set up the capture sources on the USB stick, instead of using the Nova-TD, I used these.

This meant I end up with four capture sources, all configured for the one dual-tuner card. So Capture Source "Card1 #1" was setup to use the same tuner as "Card2 #1" and the same for Card1 #2/Card2 #2. The new card wasn't in the mix at all!
The reasons the "working tuner" changed was that the first capture source to start nabbed the tuner, and when the second came to use it, it was busy - hence no signal!

I've got it all configured correctly now, I'm recording 4 test shows as I write!
