Hi all,

I couldn't find anything about this in the archive so here goes;

Is there any way that I can specify an order of preference for the capture cards?

For example, I have access to NBC via 3 of my capture sources (OTA ATSC, Analog cable and Digital cable). In the event that nothing is going on at the time how can I dictate which source is chosen to record a scheduled show?

I'm assuming that if 2 things are scheduled for the same time then the recording jobs are issued to the card that services the required TV station?

What I'd like to do is to ensure that a digital source is chosen where possible and better yet that an HD source is chosen where possible.

For example, Many Fox HD outlets are also carrying the MyTV network (My9 here in NYC area) in SD and vice versa on the MyTV outlet. If one cannot receive one RF channel but the other is available then you are covered with both services.

Am I making myself clear? I'm getting a little confused myself.

Thanks

GB-PVR will choose which capture source to use when it schedules a recording. You cant tell it which capture source to use, but its important to understand this general rule: when choosing the capture source for a recording it works its way down the capture source list shown in the config app, and most likely use the first available capture source with the require channel.

There a couple of reason why it could choose a different capture source, but if your capture source is listed first then you should be able to make sure most of your recordings are on that capture source.

Just some more info in case you missed that: you can change the order of the capture sources with the 2 blank buttons in the config-capture sources screen, right under the remove button.

I have a troubleshooting question along these lines.

When I rebuilt my new DVR, it appears that one of my tuner cards aren't working properly. I could not find a way in the config app to show the program for the SD channels like I can the HD channels, so I'm kind of stuck trying to figure out which tuner card is the culprit.

I can record programs on SD just fine, but when I try to watch live TV, I just get snow.

I tried switching the antenna cables, and same issue remains, so I doubt it's the feed.

When you doubleclick the gbpvr-icon in the taskbar while recording, it'll show the card it is recording with.

I have an idea for you... I have two 150s. To test that both are working I did this.

First my cable provider has a Local channel (10) and a Broadcast News Channel (4).

In the Capture Sources Tab, I select one source, and uncheck the channel 10, then on the other source, I uncheck 4.

In Live TV mode, when I select channel 10, it will always be the one source that will show 10, and not the one that was unchecked... I can then check out all my channels and see the tuning for that source. When I want to check the other source, I select channel 4. Now any channel I check will be on the other source...

That's how I can change sources while watching Live TV...
