getting mce remote to work on XP

I've installed pvr-150 mce-kit IR beanbag on my winXP setup.
When I get new-hardware found - I don't have any driver to install. Windows does not find any either. I just cancel.
I installed hauppauge wintv ir app (stopIR restartIR), yet nothing seems to
work.

Any hints how to get this remote to work on winXP?

you probably have xp home...which doesn't come with the driver...xp pro does..
if you search for those names you should find it out there somewhere..
if not, go to the HIP site and he has a 'alternate' driver that works for gbpvr...

Is this one of the new Vista remotes (comes with a manual that says it's for Vista). If so it appears that there is no way to get these remotes to work with XP. They are incompatible with the XP MCE driver.

I had the same problem with an HVR-1600 MCE kit. It is true that Hauppauge is shipping a Vista-only remote receiver with some of their MCE kits. I ended up contacting Hauppauge customer support, and they were willing to swap out my Vista-only receiver for an XP-compatible receiver. I suggest writing to them and telling them the model number of the remote receiver that you have. They should be able to tell you whether you have the Vista-only model or not.
