I also got installation failed on vista sp1 but after restart it appear to have installed and I could open the pvrx2 application but before I proceed further I noticed my CPU usage has gone up significantly even without pvrx2 open. From Microsoft process explorer I see there are too many hardware interrupts happening and overall it caused lots of slowdown and applications lock ups. Then I used system restore to go back to date before I installed my Hauppauge HVR-1250 card and started adding its driver and software making sure no significant hardware interrupts after each step. There was no hardware interrupts problem until I installed GBPVR with failed installation message off course. Now I did system restore again to remove GBPVR installation only and don't see those hardware interrupts but afraid to install GBPVR again. Anybody experienced anything like this or have solution to this? Thanks!

Yeah, try uninstalling it from the system, then go back to my post prior to yours and follow the directions to uninstall the gb-pvr recording service, then install the application again. That will more than likely fix your issue.

After fighting for hours trying to get 1.2.9 installed on a `virgin` vista ultimate system, uac disabled as an administrator and so on... ending up with a 1722 error BUT I think I may have found the answer to overcome the problem !!

I installed from the command line (as administrator) using:

msiexec /i gbpvr10209.msi /qb

This installed gbpvr with only a minimum user interface and NO ERROR !
And guess what it worked Smile you just need to start the config manually..

Hope this of use to you all...

$5 says that when you tried installing it the very first time when you had UAC enabled, that it still installed the service. $5 more says that when you turned off UAC, you didn't uninstall the service that got orphaned there when you did the first install trick. THIS above all screws the pooch on every other attempt to install if you don't remove the service! REMOVE THE SERVICE MANUALLY IF YOU GET A FAILURE!!!!! It will NOT be removed by the uninstaller!

All you had to do was make sure you had UAC off, you were installing as an administrator (not even THE administrator), and that you didn't have any extra GB-PVR services in services.msc, and everything would have installed just fine for you.

So, go back, do what I said, and try again.

As I stated it was a virgin system and it never got as far as installing the service on the system ... no service installed means no service to remove... believe me I looked into that too .... In the end over the command line it even installed with uac enabled...
so why do it the hard way when its works with the good old command line..

I was gettng the 1722 error when trying to install 1.3.11 on a brand new Vista Ultimate SP1 install - I ran MSI installer to produce a log as described by JavaWiz here. In doing so I noticed the following in the log which shows the dialog progress box extended too far. So by using the minimal user interface with no progress bar via the MSI command line - Shaazam ! install worked.

Quote:Action start 0:08:05: Progress_Dialog.
DEBUG: Error 2826: Control Line7 on dialog Progress_Dialog extends beyond the boundaries of the dialog to the right by 1 pixels
Internal Error 2826. Progress_Dialog, Line7, to the right
Action ended 0:08:05: Progress_Dialog. Return value 1.
Action start 0:08:05: Action1.
DEBUG: Error 2835: The control ErrorIcon was not found on dialog ErrorDialog
Internal Error 2835. ErrorIcon, ErrorDialog
MSI © (D8:44) [00:08:07:667]: Product: GB-PVR -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
