Problems with USB-UIRT on VISTA (not waking, not working)

I have been having a heck of a time with my new VISTA install, especially after SP1. The USB-UIRT just doesn't work half the time. I contacted the vendor, he said it's a microsoft issue. So I did a bit of a google and sure enough...

Gee I love Microsoft. VISTA SP1 doesn't / didn't seem to have fixed it yet either.

I've missed so many recordings, or rather I have taped so many programs of the channel it was last on, as the USB-UIRT is not "firing" IR signals. It sometimes works on the PC after a reboot, but via teh MVP is just not doing it, or it works once, then stops, or works until I sleep, then stops. It's so frustrating.

Anyone else have USB-UIRT and VISTA SP1?

This is the key message. If the device fails to open, then the USB-UIRT is not going to work.

Unfortunately there isnt much room for doing anything differently in GB-PVR than what the app is doing today. It's a one line call, with no parameters, and no return code of why it failed etc, so hard to give you any more info on it. You'd probably need to talk to the USB-UIRT manufacturer to see if there is a debug version of the driver or something similar, which gives some log messages or something.
