Just tried to install a new HVR-900 with gbpvr. Installed the drivers and then ran config to install the HVR-900.

Did capture source/add digital recording plugin
Setting chose HVR-900/Country New Zealand/Mt Kau Kau

EPG source chose DVB EPG

Clicked okay and then clicked Map digital channels to EPG Channels

Get message gbpvr was unable to start the BDA device etc

And then there is a .net error

I installed WinTV and it found all the analogue and digital channels okay so the card appears to be installed okay.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you set the device number correctly? Assuming this is your only HVR900, then it needs to be device #1, regardless of any other devices that are also in your machine.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

It's device #1. I also tried on another machine with the same problem. But I am using the drivers that came on the CD. Do I need to find BDA drivers for the stick instead? The drivers appear to work with WinTV but analogue only. WHen selecting a DVB-T channel I see nothing which I guess isn't surprising.

Thanks

Can you run filtercheck.exe from the GB-PVR directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created?

See attached. Looks like gbpvr can find the device

This is a different HVR900. Try adding this to your BDA.ini file:

[Hauppauge HVR-900H]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=WinTV HVR-900H BDA Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=WinTV HVR-900H BDA Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Input0
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

That entry is already in the bda.ini

You should be able to select it in the dropdown.

Thanks. That worked and it installed and found the channels. Note there wasn't an entry in my bda.ini file for this device. Also the box says HVR-900 but the device itself says HVR-900H.

Recorded a show okay but can't play it back (which I expected on my PC) but on a Popcorn Hour all I get is a constant buffering message. This is interesting since my PCH can play the HD samples that have been uploaded before.

Great.

Its new hardware, and I thought I added the definition in 1.2.13? Maybe it was post 1.2.13 though. Either way, its certainly part of the master bda.ini file now though, so will be in all future releases.

Seems to be working now. My recording problem was the antenna. I replaced the Hauppauge supplied antenna with a connection to my rooftop UHF aerial and rescanned all channels. Found them all including a bunch of test ones. Imported the epg but that screwed up my existing epg for TV1, TV2 and TV3 (it seems that the names of channels I used for my TCL cable connection are the same as in the DVB-T stream). Anyway I also found a channel called TV3 (AC-3). Tried recording that and while it recorded okay could not playback on my modest single core gbpvr machine.

But on the PCH is played back fine (looked like upscaled SD content). Initially there was no audio but when I got the PCH to select an alternate audio track it displayed DTS(!) and I got audio. Strange but at least I can now record the HD broadcasts. Now to fix the epg.

Thanks for the quick assist.
