Found this when I was searching for a way to use my old Hauppauge remote to switch my HTPC on and off. I think the MCE remotes are nicer because you don't have to mess with the hardware, but this seems like a good option.

I was going to set the power button to go to standby if I used this so I could standby the machine with the remote.

i used a kit i bought from http://www.atric.de (sorry, available in german only).
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.


There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Why not use the system-menu? Or am I missing something?

yeah, it's the wake up the machine via hauppauge remote part, going to standby is not the issue Wink
with MCE remote wakeup is possible, with the hauppauge not...
