Hi Guys,

I picked up a S=VHS A/V cable and will be hooking the HTPC up to my 27" CRT start definition TV soon! Whoo Hoo! Can't wait to see GBPVR on the TV at last!

I have an Asus m2npv-vm motherboard with the Nvidia GEForce 6150 graphics chip set.

What resolution and refresh rate should I set the board to for best results on my TV?

THANKS!!!

720x480 60hz

Is what I use for a CRT using s-video or composite cables.

Thank you Nitrogen Widget!

I couldn't wait to play though so I set the refresh rate down to lowest setting, 60hz, figuring that wouldn't hurt the TV.

The resolution was a challenge as 800x600 is the lowest available to me. I went with 1024x768 and it runs GBPVR just fine! The desktop is also kinda usable, but I have to work on the overscan a bit.

So far the picture over the TV exceeds that I got on the monitor! The scrolls on CNN look much better on the TV than they did on the monitor.

I've just got some tweaks to do and I may actually be able to get the lid on this thing and it stuck on the entertainment center!

I'm using Nvidia Forceware 175.19 and I can't seem to find the overscan adjustments? The desktop is too big but GBPVR seems fine. Still I'd like to see if I could get the desktop so I can get to the start menu. Does 175.19 allow for overscan adjustment or do I need to back up to 169.21, or another version?

Thanks!

You can specify overscan settings within the config.xml file within the GBPVR directory.

As per: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=2

EDIT: Ignore that, mis-read the post.

Cheers

OK, 175.19 DOES have overscan adjustment! Smile

When I was on the S-VHS to the TV I couldn't pull up the Nvidia control panel because I couldn't get to the Start button. When I was on the monitor I couldn't see any overscan adjustments. I finally pulled the control panel to the desktop so I could get to it when on the TV and when I'm on the TV I get more options in the Nvidia control panel and one of those is overscan adjustment!

I had a small issue - there was an annoying thin one pixel white line that would run along the bottom line of the screen when in GBPVR, but not when in the desktop. Changing the video settings and refresh rates would change it's appearance from all the way across the screen to just about a quarter of it and it would appear and disappear as I moved the moved the mouse and changed screens. I finally found that if I increased the overscan till the task bar almost, but not quite, disappeared that it was no longer visible in GBPVR.

Whoo Hoo! I think that's the last thing to sort out! Time to tidy up the wiring in the case, get the lid on it, and get this thing in the entertainment center! Smile
