ok, I figured out how to make it work with EventGhost.

First, you need to add TWO copies of the HID plugin (which for reasons known to them but not me, shows up under 'Other' rather than as a remote receiver). On my system, the Gyration RF Technology Receiver shows up about 7 times. For me, the first entry reads the button with the little 'i' on it (it reads others too, but the others already work in GB-PVR). Then the last entry gets the Green Button, the little TV with the Play icon (opposite the 'i' button), the 4 media buttons just above the number pad, and the DVD Menu button at the bottom right.

As near as I can tell the remaining buttons at the very bottom of the remote don't generate HID events at all - the little green LED above the power button doesn't flash for those like it does for all the other buttons.

To actually map a button to a keypress, you create a new Macro, select the Window-Emulate Keypress action, enter in the keypress(es) you want. Now, hit the desired button on the remote. An HID.Button event will show up in the log on the left - drag it into your macro on the right, and you're done.

I also disabled all the other plug-ins and macros; the only function I'm after now is mapping HID buttons to keypresses. I see EventGhost is really powerful, it may yet have more uses for me.

Like many things it all seems quite simple having figured it out, but it was rather complicated to get here.

Now I just need to decide which keypresses to assign to which buttons.

Just saw this thread, otherwise I would have spared you the Google searches. I have the Gyration and have it set up mostly as you describe. I added all 7 copies of the HID to make sure all possible buttons could be programmed. Even with all 7 some can't though.

I set up the green button to run PXRx2 in case it lost focus. It doesn't seem to work out, though. It just causes PVRx2 to flash in the tray if it is already running. If it is not running it brings it up perfectly, though.

I only set Eventghost to run the buttons that aren't captured natively by windows or GBPVR, though. For example I had to set up the volume buttons, channel buttons, and the special buttons like music, pictures, etc. Play, pause, FF/RWD, etc all work natively.

I also had to set up the special buttons around the arrow buttons like the "i" and the back button. I set back to escape, the "i" to the blue button, one to guide, etc.

I also had to rename the ehome directory to ehomeold to keep MCE from coming up.

I LOVE this remote. It controls all my other components and the mouse functionality is incredible. Also the fact that it can send the PVR to standby or power it up, all over RF, really gives it a polished feel.

Thanks Satori, I appreciate the info on your setup. I was debating reconfiguring the 'Back' button to Escape, although the 'Clear' button at the bottom is Escape already. Usually 'Back' does what I want (I guess it maps to a 'Browser Back' event), but sometimes I've had to reach for 'Clear' a couple of times.

Ain't it though? The first time I used it I almost giggled like a school girl. I got it because I want to use Hulu through a web browser, and it can only be controlled by mouse (at least until and if that guy working on the Hulu Plugin releases something).
