If I use an alternative remote control program, what do I pick for the Remote in the Config app?

you do nothing...your remote control program picks up the command and sends it to gbpvr.

The only thing you might have to do is to make sure that gbpvr doesn't pick up your remote control at the same time as your remote software. So if you are using an MCE remote with HIP then make sure that GBPVR doesn't have MCE remote selected as a remote (this is a very common mistake) otherwise you can get the signal sent twice to GBPVR.

So, I pick a remote I don't have, or is there another option?

yes, if you have an MCE remote, pick hauppauge and vice versa...note that the hauppauge MCE remote is an MCE remote.

I use IR suite and then use the .exe plugin in GBPVR to call the blaster program and send command lines (like the channel).
