I had so many problems i reinstalled windows XP Pro with service pack 3. Installed GBPVR when in config i had a problem which is why i think it wont start now. Config wont start either it crashes on starting.

I have 2 HAUPPAUGE 1600 and one older PVR150
Under capture source i installed the PVR150 first. set it to 1st capture source. Then set up one of the 1600 card analog only at this time and set it to 2nd capture source. BUT when i went to setup the second 1600 it wouldnt let me set it to 3rd capture source as GBPVR said no driver for this card found. If i choose to set it as 1st capture source it would install then, I wasnt sure since it was a 1600 that maybe it could also be set as 1st capture source along with the PVR150. Well now GBPVR or the config crashes on start.
Iam guessing this is the problem but not sure but how do i get back to a fresh start. Plus once i do so how do i get all three cards to work. Plus i do want to setup the 1600 cards for over the air digital too. So i would assume i will need to set up a total of 5 capture sources 1-PVR150 2-analog1600 3-other1600analog 4-1600 digital 5-other 1600 digital.

if i understand you correctly the 1 and 2 just distinguish which card you wanna use if you have two of the same ones if you have 2 1600's one would be 1 and the other 2, 3 would be if you had a third 1600. the 150 would just be 1 since you only have 1.

Humm if thats correct then i wonder why i cant get either the config or GBPVR to run. They both crash when i try to run them.
I guess i will try to uninstall GBPVR and reinstall it again. Sad

I did a whole reinstall of windows and everything. Maybe i will go back the the earlyer version (10312) of GBPVR as that ran ok.

You're getting a .Net Sockets exception in your logs. See post #2 of the survival guide to resolve this.

Well i reinstalled GBPVR 1.3.7 and only set up one HAUPPAUGE 1600 card. Now it doesnt crash but i get no video. Just black screen. I can see the info that shows what channel iam on and the info about what show it is but no video. I get audio. Iam extremly frustrated now. I attached the logs again.

I looked at post number 2 in survival guide. The link to the hot fix doesnt work but i went to the link about the explanation and then found the hotfix, I tried to run it BUT it said this fix doesnt apply to the software on this computer. I know when i installed service Pack three there was an update to net2.0 so this might be why the hotfix says it doesnt apply.

At least it doesnt crash now but i cant get any video. I tried choosing every choice under the playback tab in the config and none fixed the video problem. Sad

I just dont get why iam getting differant problems when i did a reinstall. This computer has NO other software as its just for recording TV. No anti virus software no software at all Except winzip 8.0 so i can zip the log files. BUT nothing else. Has all the latest windows update software from microsoft.

Logs attached.

It looks like you have all the video and audio decoders set to "System Default". Try specifying your MPEG and AC3 Decoders.

Well i figured out why it wasnt getting any video. When i reinstalled windows and loaded the drivers for my capture cards. I never reinstalled all the software that comes with the cards. It appears GBPVR needs something from this software to run.

So it works fine on analog cable channels BUT if i try to record the ATSC over the air digital the sound stops. Sound is good in Live TV for the digital channles but if i hit record or try and pause in Live TV it pauses and resumes playback but sound stops. I tired every combination under the playback settings in the config but cant get sound to record for the over the air digital channels. records analog cable fine.
Iam stumped. I tried changing all sorts of things but no luck with sound on digital channels i try to record. GBPVR also crashed several times while i was trying differant setting but i think that was just because the settings I was trying werent correct.

If no one has any idea why no sound on just the digital channels i guess i will have to try sagetv see if i can get that to work.

I fixed my problem and wanted to tell you how i did it incase someone eles has this issue. It fixed both the crashing of GBPVR and smoothed the video playback for over the air hdtv.
I did a google search for Hauppauge 1600 choppy play.
Someone in the beyond tv forum had same issue and fixed it by getting the Nvidia Purevideo decoder. Its 20 bucks with a 30 day trial. But that fixed it mostly but still a little choppy but not near as bad. Then setting bda multiplexer to Microsoft DVR-MS this now has smoothed the playback finnaly. Plus no more crashing. I tried that bda choice before but it didnt help at all but once i got the Nvidia decoder and that bda choice its fine for now. Big Grin

System is xp pro P4 3.0 1 gig ram Geforce 6200 256meg ram. Two Hauppauge 1600 cards and one PVR150 card.
