Well I just upgraded my Dell Optiplex 745 to a 760. While I was at it I switched from XP to Vista Ultimate (not sure why I did that.... kinda wanted to play with media center). I added a blu-ray reader and added the Hauppauge 1800 card in addition to the 1600 that I already had.

Every thing went fairly smooth but I am having a few issues and I changed so much stuff around I am not sure what the exact problem may be.

First of all when I go to watch live tv (analog or digital) it tells me the card is in use. If I try a second time it will show the channel just fine. I go to check the status of the cards and it tells me the 1800 is in live preview mode. It seems like it tried the 1800 first and give me that message. The next time I try it, it goes to the 1600 and works fine. If I disable the 1800 card and remove it as a capture source things seem to be fine. I have not tried to use just the 1800 by it's self.

Next issue is that sometimes and it seems to be mainly with the 1800 card that the picture in with the digital ATSC looks very blocky and mostly green and some red. Kind if like it is running with just a couple colors and ultra low resolution. The sound comes in just fine. I am pretty sure I have good signal strength as my antenna setup has not changed. I did have to put in a splitter to get my antenna signal to both cards.

I also tried to change the capture device # but when I do it tells me "The drivers for the device you have configured do not seem to be installed. Are you sure you want to continue?" I have not said yes and continued. I also tried to run the device type check utility to pull the device #'s from my hauppauge cards but it comes back empty.

I hope I gave enough detail for someone to be able to help.

Thanks

Mike.

Zip and post your logs. Also run filtercheck.exe and post the resulting filtercheck.log

reposting logs because recording service was left on last time and it did not capture all of them. Also notice when I record something then check the card status it shows it as sleeping still.

What does the logs shows? What did you try to do before zipping them up, and what went wrong?

i went into services and stopped the recording service. Then rezipped the files and it worked ok (didnt tell me any were in use) not sure what to look for in the logs.

For giggles I ran the setup on the media center side and it recognized both cards and records from both of them fine. Hopefully there is not a conflict between the two. I was having the problem in gbpvr before I setup MS to use them.

Like I said I changed so much I not sure what has my setup messed up. The last several version I just upgraded and everything went smooth. This time I changed the OS and added hardware. I have cyberlink power DVD8 Ultra for Blu-Ray playback so my codecs may have all changed as well.

I am not a pro at this but have always managed to get buy without too much trouble but I have put my foot in it now lol

I dont really know what the logs show, so its hard to try an interpret. Its best to start the app, then reproduce a specific problem, then post the logs along with a description of what you did to reproduce problem. (ie, something like "I started the app, then tried to start live tv and just got a black screen")

ok i deleted log files then replicated problem the rezipped them. Hopefully this helps and you have less to sift through.

I start up pvrx2. Go to program directory and try to watch live tv. Message is returned saying no tuners are available. Check status of cards and it tells me 1800 card is in live preview mode.

Thanks so much for your help.

Can you try deleting the "c:\users\<your account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory, then try again?
