Any idea which USB tv stick does have the MPEG2 hardware encoder for analogue cable tv?

I dont think there is any USB sticks that have hardware encoding for analog.

There are some larger USB devices, like the Hauppauge HVR-1900, which do analog (with hardware encoder) and DVB-T. No DVB-C though.

Hello,

In de Direct.INI file the Hauppauge HVR-1900 is not supported, will it work anyway with GBPVR since it has the hardware encoder?

A second question:
Can I be sure that with any card eg WinTV-HVR-1300 or the Hauppauge HVR-1900 which have the MPEG2 hardware encoder for analogue will also support teletext to subtitle conversion (SRT) as is available in GB-PVR?

Yes, the HVR1900 works for both analog and digital in GB-PVR.

I'm pretty sure these devices will both be ok for Teletext to SRT capture, but its been a very very long time since I tested this functionality - at least a couple of years ago.

Hello,

I have seen that some Hauppauge USB tv-cards do have SoftPVR™ MPEG-2 encoder is this just as good as hardware MPEG2 encordere? eg WinTV-HVR-950Q hybrid TV stick.
Question: Does the analolgue tuning work with GB-PVR and the SoftPVR™ MPEG-2 encoder?

SoftPVR doesnt work with GB-PVR.

A couple of cards have been tested successfully with the very-similar SoftMCE, but I've never tested the HVR-930C. It uses a large amount of CPU though, and the quality isnt as good as hardware encoder cards.

See the discussion in another topic http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=22 on the 930c latest driver issues. It seems to be hardware batch related problem so I'm going to return it for a RMA. I'll keep you informed on the results when the stick is replaced.

Hi all,

finally some positive news about the HVR-930c problems I've had so far. Hauppauge Germany replaced my stick under warranty and the channel detecting issues are solved now. Everything works fine in GBPVR with drivers v5.8.1107.26322 - 17/11/2008.

I've heard there was some 930C's that used slightly different hardware which lead to problem. It sounds like they know they can fix it with an updated driver, but that fix hasnt been done yet.
