Hello,

I have a VistaView DA 1N1-I dual tuner card. The manufacturer indicated that it should work with GB-PVR. I am able to scan all channels successfully with the TuningAssistant but that is about as far as I am able to get. I don't know if I was supposed to be able to view/hear anything during the scanning process. The card is not listed in the Config Sources and I can't figure out how to make it appear there. Any comments would be appreciated.

It shows up as a "ViXS PureTV" for the analog side. That's the one you should select.

Also, make sure you use the V60990 drivers (older version). If not, there could be some compatibility problems with other tuners in GBPVR.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. Other than in the TuningAssistant in which I did choose VIXS PureTV, I simply don't know how to go about selecting it in the main config setup. I installed the drivers that came on the cd. They do show up in device manager as 6.0.99.0. Are there other drivers that could be incompatible that I should be looking for?

They have newer drivers that are designed for the Vista TV Pack. They can be downloaded from the website but I recommend sticking with the ones you have.

As for the main config setup, see http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/CaptureSource

Thanks for the clarification. I have GB-PVR installed on XP Pro SP3. I have a ton of stuff on this drive, though, including two other TV viewing packages - Media Portal and BeyondTV Trial. Only the latter works, but costs $99 to buy. I only paid $33 for the card itself. It appears that GB-PVR works more readily with Hauppauge cards. Had I had realized how far out of the mainstream the VistaView was, I wouldn't have bought it. Manufacturers never seem to mention what their products can NOT do. That having been said, I am stuck with the DA 1N1 now and have to make the best of what I have. Unfortunately. the GB-PVR documentation ranks among some of the more difficult-to-follow pieces of instruction that I have encountered, perhaps since my brief experience with FreeBSD. I haven't a clue how to make a card appear that GB-PVR doesn't see. I can't say I've had any better luck with Media Portal. I guess I'll have to put these packages on the back burners and have a look at them every now and then. In the meantime, if there is any GB-PVR for Dummies out there, I need to find and read it.

Run filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log iso I can see what components this device has installed for you.

Are you trying to use the analog side of this device, or the digital side, or both? Its probably best to start with one, get that working and then add the other.

To do this you have to setup a capture source in the config app. A capture source tells GB-PVR that a video capture device is available, and what channels are available on that device. When you setup your capture source, choose either the 'digital recording plugin' or the 'analog recording plugin'. For the EPG, the two most common ones in North America are either the Schedules Direct service (which costs $20 a year), and you only need to enter your username+password into the capture source settings, or mc2xml (http://mc2xml.110mb.com/#gbpvr) which is a little more complexe but $0.

After you setup your capture source, you should be good to go in GB-PVR. If you get stuck, let us know where you got to and what problem you encountered and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.
