What is the best way to adjust the picture produced by the MVP? I can adjust the TV but is there a way to adjust the software of the MVP, because some images look too saturated.

Thanks

There not really much you can change. There is a few settings at the top of the direct.ini file that can be used to adjust the color and sharpness of the recording, which will ultimately flow through to playback on the MVP. You have to edit this file manuallt.

Here's an idea as well.

Go and download graphedit. Unzip the files into a seperate folder. i.e. c:\graphedit and follow the instructions to register the dlls.

Run the program and click on (i think) view -> insert filer.
Find your capture device ( I have a pvr-150) and insert.

Now you can right click on the capture device and select properties. There is a tab in there that will allow you to adjust sharpness, hue, saturation etc...

I suggest you have gb-pvr running live TV as you make the changes as you will see the results in real time (well a short delay)

Once you have it the way you like, select apply and you should be all set.

I have had a lot of success modifying the settings in the direct.ini file to do exactly what you are talking about.  Actually Live TV is not really live (there is a several second delay) since GB-PVR is always recording and thus you are always watching the delayed recording as Live TV.

My main issue was with brightness.  I turned up that setting to about 75 and it was the same as my regular TV tuner output on Live TV.  To test what was happening I turned the settings to the extreme one at a time to see the effect and then finally settled them in where they worked best.  The recordings, viewed later, were impacted in exactly the same way.  The only downside I have found is that if you then run GB-PVR and watch it on the Computer screen things are too light in my case since I changed the settings to overcome darkness projected through the MediaMVP.  When I watch TV on the computer I just use another program.

This does not impact the viewing of pictures and other previously recorded video from the TV card or other sources since the adjustment only impacts current recordings through the TV Tuner.  I presume if you hooked a video up as an input to the TV Tuner and streamed it through the card recording with the GB-PVR software or any other software such as the Hauppage TV card stuff (you can also adjust settings in this software) you could achieve the same effect by brightening up the saved video from the feed.

I too am still experimenting with various things to improve my experience with this software and hardware (Hauppauge TV150MCE and MediaMPC).  All in all it is an excellent piece of work with lots of customizable attributes......
Hope this helps your problem....

I have the same problem as described above, very dark picture and like the solution suggested above but the problem is that my direct.ini file is empty. Could someone send me or post here the direct.ini file which I could use.

Thanks in advance,

Thor
