Hi there.

I'm fairly new to all of this, though I was able to at least get my DVB-S setup in GB-PVR and working without a hitch ... sort of.

I've got two problems I just can't figure out. One, for some reason the channel scan will no longer pickup Sport Extra (in NZ, btw) on the TVNZ frequency, and number two is a recording issue. Some recordings are fine, some aren't. The ones that aren't are exhibiting an issue where they are fine for about 10 seconds, then they sprint ahead, play a few frames, sprint ahead, half a frame, sprint ahead, maybe quarter to half of a frame (if I'm lucky). Playback of the output TS file from the suspect recording in Media Player Classic plays back fine ... except for every 10 seconds there's a sudden burst of "blocky picture" and a blip of audio compression squeak. Live TV is perfectly fine and this is only affecting some recordings. It's driving me nuts ... and caused a miss of outrageous fortune but meh, TV3 have it online at least Wink

Capture board is an AverMedia A700 based hybrid dvb-s + analog card. Is there perhaps something I've done wrong somewhere in the setup?

They recently removed Sports Extra from DVB-S to free up space for the regional copies of TV One etc. See the list of channels here: http://www.freeviewnz.tv/whats_on_freeview/channels (click "Sat" and Sports Extra greys out)

For the breaking up picture and funny speed problems, this sounds like reception problems.

So thats where it went. It was still on lyngsat's list when I updated. Oh well guess I'll have to pick up a DVB-T dongle.

As for the picture issue on recordings, it's not affecting live TV so I can't see how it's a reception issue. It recorded the same thing last week fine without a hitch, and it's only happening on the odd recording, particularly from TV3. Still, i'll go find a ladder and have a look at the dish alignment at some point of the weekend.

Reproduce the problem, then post the logs and I'll take a look.

OK I think i've found the issue. Think i've got some dodgy hardware here. Seems to be if I cue a record from PVRX2 it happens, if i cue it off the web interface it's fine. It is fairly old-ish hardware so I'll research some more.

Cheers though Smile looks like I'm the dummy!

Is your hard drive operating in DMA mode? If it has reverted to PIO mode, you will see this kind of thing. Go into device manager and examine your primary & secondary IDE (or SATA) channels.
