HELP!
I bought the Aver Volar Max USB and I'm very happy with the quality of it's abilities. However I'm not too impressed with the software as most anyone else is.
I have a desktop with a Vixs PureTV tuner, and GBPVR (Amongst other programs) running on it. My Home PC is not connected to the internet, so Media Center is a no go (It won't find stations without consulting with the internet first) and Sage TV locks up when accessing the tuner sometimes. GBPVR works great with that tuner (But doesn't pull the EPG over the air for some reason) and doesn't recognize the radio tuner built into the Vixs, Anyways, I can watch TV on that machine but can't record unless I know exactly what to record without depending on the guide.
So my solution was to buy another tuner. Well I got the Volar Max because I also wanted to utilize my Laptop as a portable and 2nd PVR possibly. Well I tried to get GBPVR to recognize the VOlar on the Desktop first, and kept getting BSOD on initializing during Mapping EPG Channels. So I figured I'd try on the laptop. Same thing... Here's a quick rundown on specs.
Desktop:
Windows Vista Home Prem x32
3gb (Really 4gb)
Duo 2.33ghz
Vixs PureTV
EVGA G-Force 8700GTS (Overclocked)
Laptop
HP DV6 1030US
Windows Vista Home Prem x64
4gb (Yay 64 bit!!)
Duo 2.0ghz
The Volar does work fine, I've tested it with Media Center on the Laptop (Since I can bring it to work and try it) and with the Avermedia software on BOTH machines. But as soon as I go to add it to GBPVR on both machines, the tuner is recognized for what it is, but as soon as I do the channel scan, POOF... BSOD.
I tried modding the bda.ini according to a past post, and that hasn't helped. I'm trying to tune OTA ATSC. With my Desktop configuration and 2 other TV Tuner boxes (The set top OTA Boxes) I get just about 28 channels, so it's very much worth it to me to get this to work.
Any advice or help would be appreciated! And if you want the log attached, please tell me where to find it in the program dir please. I'm not a complete n00b, but I'm not a software genius lol.
Thanks!
