It can if you want - you just need to edit your Irremote.ini file in notepad;
The line to turn on with the green button is
;GBPVR------------------------------------------------
GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\PVRX2.exe)}

This is a the top part of irrremote.ini, where the code is for what the remote can do when no apps are running

Near the bottom, under the PVRX2 specific settings, you could assign a button to close down PVRX2 - but most users just go to system in the PVRX2 menu and choose shutdown form there...
Many versions of Irremote.ini around, so attached mine as a reference of where the line goes...

I think the Hauppage remotes are great - by editing the ini you can control pretty much any program that accepts keyboard commands
