Using MDAPI/CnxCam with Cinergy C PCI HD capture device I can watch encrypted channels in live-tv, but recording does not decrypt. Sub, can you take a look and see what's wrong?

Out of curiosity, if you kill GBPVRRecordingService.exe, then manually run it from a command prompt with the RUN commandline parameter, then reproduce the problem, does it make any difference?

Exactly how do I do that? If I typr "gbpvrrecordingservice" in a command prmpt window it just starts as a service again.

If you look in the task list it should be running as your account instead of 'localsystem'.

Yes it did make a difference, both live-tv and recording works that way. That lead me to belive that there is a permission problem; since I run the host program for the virtual port (for the cardreader) from my account, I own the port and a system service is not allowed to read from it.

So I tried to run the hostprogram for the port as a system service (it's an option), but that didn't work well eighter. Do you have a solution?

Well, after testing and testing and more testing I'v come to some conclutions. One cannot use a cardreader based on emulation (by application or system service), so I bought a Phoenix cardreader for the smartcard and things seems to work, at least live-tv does. But after changing to the new config.exe the recording service har stopped loading mdapi (and it's plugins) when recording an encrypted cahnnel. Further, the recording service does not (always) unload mdapi filter after finishing a recording, therby the com-port with the cardreader is not closed, and the next time the mdapi-plugin (softcam) tries to open the com-port it hangs.

Is it possible to modify gbpvrrecordingservice.exe to always unload mdapi filter (and plugins) after each recording?

Sorry, I missed your earlier reply.

You pretty much need to use multidec plugins that use a server for card access. ie, I use newcs as the card server, and the ACamd plugin which acts as a client to newcs.
