Hi,

I've just brought another DVB-S card for NZ Freeview and am having issues.
I can watch TV on either tuner card (Nova-S Plus & Hauppauge 3000) but still cannot watch one channel and record another on a different mux.

I've attached them both to the satellite via a splitter - the guy I brought this from assured me it could feed both outputs simultaneously.
Is there something I need to configure inside GBPVR to get this to work? I can see options for DiSeQc in the DVB-S config but don't really know what to set this to (or if it's required.)

Anybody else using two DVB-S cards for NZ Freeview?

I think these are based on the same drivers, so you may need one to be set as device #1 and the other as device #2. If you've got them both set as device #1, then it may just be using the "first" of these two card, regardless of which of these device you selected when setting up your capture source.

Quick response - thanks!

I'll check this tonight, I believe you are right and I set them both up as Device #1.

Do I need to do anything with the Diseqc settings or leave this set to None?

Assuming you dont have a diseqc switch (ie, with multiple LNBs connected) then yes, leave it set to None.

Unless you have a DiSEqC switch allowing you to switch between multiple LNBs, then no, you don't need to do anything with the DiSEqC settings and can leave them set to none.

I may be way off base here but I was under the impression that for 2 DVB-S tuners you needed 2 LNBs and 2 cables from the dish. If you just split a single sat cable to 2 tuners you'll always get the same channel on both as part of the tuning request is done by the LNB itself.

That is true for the UK (unless the channels happen to be on the same transponder) but I have a feeling in NZ they dont use both polarities so you can get away with a feed from one LNB there? I could be talking utter crap though. Smile

Ah, that makes sense - thanks for clearing that up. I haven't used DVB-S yet but planning to soon for HD channels so still learning. :-)

For anyone interested, numbering the devices #1 & #2 resolved this issue.

Thanks for the help!
