Last night I did something stupiod and tried to change my channel lineup from Schedules Direct while PVRX2 was recording.

This morning, when I tried to run Config it would start and then not respond or use any more CPU cycles. Each time I tried to run it it would get as far as the Task Manager screen capture shows and go no further.

If I tried to END PROCESS config in Task Manager it wouldn't do anything. It owuldn't hang but it wouldn't kill it. If I ran Config again I would just end up with another instance of Config.

I tried the sc delete "GB-PVR Recording Service" and was successful with that but when I re-ran the 147.msi installation program and tried to have it repair things and even when it ran successfully, I still had the problem with config.

I tried reinstalling the vcredist_86 to see if that was the problem and still no luick. I even restored my computer to a coule days ago before the last Windows Update was installed and this didn't help.

I had Windows do error checking on hte C: Drive. Unfortunately, I wasn't watching while it did that so I am not sure whether it found any errors and how many there were.

Now, when I try to run the gbpvr147.msi file I get a popup saying Internal Error 2753 in Config.exe.

I've tried uninstalling GBPVR and all sorts of combinations.

Right now, GBPVR is not installed on my computer and I can't seem to reinstall it.

What should I do to get out of this problem?

Sorry, I dont know. When the .msi installer doesnt work, its pretty much a mystery to me. Hopefully SystemShark will spot you post - he's pretty good at diagnosing these types of problem.

I think this is where you went wrong. I dont know what possessed you to try removing the server, then trying repair installs etc. ARgh! We would have been better off just taking a look in the config.exe.log to see what it was doing.

I did it (delete the GB-PVR Recording service) because once before when I had an install that wouldn't complete, it was suggested that I do that and it worked.

Here is the thread discussing that: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=44740

I have no idea. Its not a GB-PVR error code. Its some error code coming from the Windows Installer.

I decided that at this point I'd do my best to do a clean install.

I uninstalled GBPVR (successfully).
I rebooted.
I renamed the DEVNZ directory to another name.
I installed from gbpvr147.msi.

I can get PVRX2 to run (with no EPG data in it).

If I try to run Config, it still just hangs but goes farther than before.

I've attached all the logs in the LOG directory.

This should be close to installing on a virgin machine, I think.

The config log seem to stop at a step where it would ask the machine for the list of decoders to populate drop down lists on the playback tab. I'm guessing there decoder that is miss behaving and this stopping the config app.

I was probably some change (install/uninstall) to some other app on your machine that cause the original problem, rather than the schedules direct change.

I'd normally offer to provide a patch that adds some extra logging to help pin point the problem decoder, but unfortunately I've changed my development environment to a new compiler etc, and I'm no longer able to build 1.4.7 compatible binaries.

You found the problem.

Yesterday, I had installed some software that runs with a USB turntable I have (to play vinyl records and input them via usb to the PC so they can be converted into individual MPGs and saved to iTunes or make CDs). I had changed the default audio input as USB. I changed this back and config was real happy.

I copied back my previous config.xml and gbpvr.db3 and everythning is back to normal.

Thanks. I was beginning to think I would never get my PVR back again.
