Occasionally, my 2250 will record the wrong program when I am trying to record my FOXHD channel. When it happens, I get my local ABC station's weather channel which is broadcast on the same physical QAM channel. This weather channel is in SD. These two channels show up as adjacent to each other in the qam scan cache file. Here are each of the channels tuning strings. The WTVD D3 is the weather channel. WRAZ HD is FOX channel I am trying to record.

T:92,0,0~P:3~TSID:1~V:81~A:84~PMT:80~PCR:81~N:>11.3 WTVD D3* (000(AC3))

T:92,0,0~P:4~TSID:1~V:33~A:34~PMT:32~PCR:33~N:>50.1 WRAZ HD* (000(AC3))

I was seeing a similar issue with my 1800 too, but I replaced it with the 2250 hoping it was just something wrong the the 1800.

I have attached some logs from I know when I witnessed the problem. It occurred at 16:00. I was trying to record an NFL game on Fox on Dec 20. I noticed it was recording the wrong show shortly after it started. I canceled the recording and then restarted it 16:12. The second attempt recorded the correct show.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

Try changing (ie: set it to "false") the following in config.xml:

Code:
<BDAStartOnUnencryptedChannel>false</BDAStartOnUnencryptedChannel>

You might also have to add the following if it doesn't exist:

Code:
<BDAAllowMultiRecordOnEncrypted>true</BDAAllowMultiRecordOnEncrypted>

I haven't had that issue since making those changes.

Thanks. I will make these changes. The problem is intermittent, so I will not probably know if helps until I run with the changes for a while.

My BDAStartOnUnencryptedChannel was set to false already. Should I be changing it to true?

I did not have any setting for BDAAllowMultiRecordOnEncrypted, so I added it.

No, you want that one as false. That way if it is somehow detected as encrypted (which seems to happen sometimes with QAM) you can still start LiveTV on that channel.

I have not had this issue occur lately. I think improving the cable signal corrected this problem. I was possibly over amplifying a poor signal.

I now have a Electroline EDA-FT08300 8 port drop amp. My cable drop goes directly to this amp and then everything in the house is fed off this device including the cable modem.

In my experience, cable modems do not fare well downstream of an amplifier. You may want to split that off first.

That had been my experience too with the amps I had before, but this one claims to be compatible with cable modems because it has an active return. It has been fine so far, but I have only had it for 3 weeks.

Here is more info on the drop amp. It is kind of pricey, but it gets good reviews.

Cable modems definitely need an active return (as do STB's for PPV/OnDemand) but the amps usually make the signal too "hot" for the modem to handle it for an extended time period. I recommend logging into the modem diagnostics page and making sure the signal is within the acceptable db range.
