Oddly enough, this started yesterday. No changes have been made to the system, and my SD account is active through March '10.

My 8-year old wanted me to record the All-star game yesterday because he said that there was something wrong with the box (MVP). I saw that the V guide was empty. I went downstairs to the HTPC and attempted to update the EPG and it failed with a parsing error (see attached). I deleted the gbpvr.db3 and re-configured the tuners (PVR500). Again, the error.

I discovered that I can successfully update the EPG with a maximum of 5days only. Anything more yields the error.

Why?

It looks like there is something wrong with the gzipped data they're sending. Maybe have a look on the Schedules Direct forum to see if any other users are having the same problem. If not, we'll look at next steps.

well, it's been an unproductive week.

The SD folks initially thought that there was something wrong with the lineup: they saw my lineup but it wasn't available for my postal code. They suspected that the lineup was scheduled to go away. That, however, turn out to not be the case.

I then added another lineup, and forced gbpvr to get that one. (I used the cleveland hts. versus cleveland, 44136, both of which have the same channels for TWCable.)

They thought then that there was something wrong with the server, Tribune. That wasn't it either. And today's suggestion was to reboot my network, since it may be an internal problem on my end. Nope. Still no luck as of today.

Now, let me add some of the other steps I had taken in the interim. First, I noticed on monday that i was down to 4 days worth of data that I could grab. On tuesday, it was down to three. Hmmm? I thought there may have been a problem with my account, but they said no.

Well, then on tuesday night I uninstalled gbpvr, edited the registry to remove all references, re-installed, added one of the tuners in the config, and attempted to update the EPG with 14 days of data. Failed. Tried 3 days and it worked. Interesting, me thunk. What to do? I downloaded media portal and installed it. configured it with SD, forced an EPG reload on the next (first) start, and hoped. Well, here was an odd error: (paraphrasing) "There is no lineup available or your SD subscription has expired."

OK, they said that my account is ok, so the latter is not it, but the former is just a vague message, possibly the result of the data not being correctly zipped and therefore rejected?

On to Wenesday....don't we all just love confusers? I had backed up my system in mid-january so I restored that. Everything was working then, but my hopes were dashed when I got the same messages with gbpvr or mp for anything over three days.

So, that's where I now stand. No closer to a solution, but definately have been sleeping less.....

BTW, there was no-one else with this problem on the SD forums (http://forums.schedulesdirect.org/viewto...?f=5&t=883), and my only reply was from rmeden of SD. All correspondences have been via e-mail after his initial follow-up. No users had any input.

I fear I may lose the ability to get SD data altogether.

This peaked my interest after you stated what lineup you are using because I'm using the same listing

Quote:Cleveland Heights, US - Time Warner Cable

I get 8 days of EPG, no problem.

It really sounds like something is sabotaging your data like a firewall/malware/antivirus program to throw some types out there. If you restored from backup and program like an antivirus program would have checked and automatically updated itself.

Also-- when you log on to SD, does it say

well, i continue to be the only one with this problem. the xmltv log states

"Timezone is -0400
adding '--share=C:/I-xmltv/share/xmltv'
using config filename ./.xmltv/tv_grab_na_dd.conf
Fetching from Schedules Direct Use of uninitialized value in print at IO/Handle.pm line 403.
ERROR: got empty result from SOAP call at /PerlApp/grab/na_dd/tv_grab_na_dd line 691."

robert says that it's probably something between Tribune and my isp. I'm sure that it's not internal to my network. I connected my htpc directly to the cable modem (i.e., removed the router) and have the same error. i tried the same with my wife's xp box and with one of my sons' xp box. nothing works. (note, the htpc does not have a software firewall, and i shut it off on my wife's and son's computers when i tested i-xmltv on those.)

it's gotten to the point where it's hit or miss on any number of days to be downloaded; however, it's mostly miss.

i deleted and readded my line-up in sd, changed the password, and had robert (from sd) log into my account. he cannot replicate the problem, so it's obvious, as he stated, that it's somewhere between tribune and the drop to my house.

bummed:-(

fyi: as suddenly as this problem started, it stopped. for about three weeks now it's been working perfectly. the wireshark logs led nowhere, but my utmost thanks to robert (of SD) for all his time and help.
