Well here is yet another snag when i went to install i installed the drivers again and updated those, but it wants me to enter the orginal cdrom again into the cd drive when i go to install the WinTV software which i don't have since i'm on a netbook. what should i do?

Sorry, I'm dont really know anything about the WinTV installer so cant help you with that. I seem to remember comments on the Hauppauge UK forums where 'Mr X' said you could contact the support office for a special version that'd install on netbooks without requiring a CD drive.

That said, netbooks are typically too slow for using CPU for soft encoding, so I doubt you'll get analog working adequately in NPVR. Hauppauge recommend a 2.6GHz P4 or higher CPU for soft encoding analog, and NPVR would pretty much require the same. The Atom CPUs in netbooks are much slower than this, and will effectively just choke on trying to soft encode in real time. (sorry!)

It's allright thanks so so so so so much for all of your help today. I will go out and attempt to find a different software that may be lighter on resources if that's possible, but again thank you so much for all of your help today.

If you do get a recent version of WinTV7 installed, you should be able to enable 'game mode'. This will let you watch tv without software encoding. This will work fine on a netbook, and use bugger all CPU, but you wont be able to pause live tv or record.

Mvallevand - I guess there is, we have time warner cable here and i have the channels that go up to 77 i think and so yeah it's just the analog stuff nothing fancy.
