I am trying to use PCH native player by default, but it does not appear to work. I am enabling

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 --mono-mpeg &

in startmeup file but it is still plays through NPVR. I recall this is working before. Using the USB button before play still works.

Thanks in advance

Since this option makes no sense to me, I don't support it any longer.

Well, for me the PCH player often performs better. For example, for audio dropouts, PCH player audio disappears for a second or so then comes back, with NPVR I have to stop and restart. TS timeline issues with live TV are always a problem with NPVR especially if I try to go backward, but not with PCH. Given that the functionality is there with USB button, I hope that you will consider supporting it as a default player.

Nope, sorry, it should work but I am not going to try and figure out why it doesn't. There are far too many reason why skipping is better in NPVR with recordings for me to care about this.

I do agree you can't skip in LiveTV with NPVR and I hope one day sub gives this back, but I am equally surprised that it works better with the NMT's player.

Also often Live TV will just go blank, sometimes after 15 minutes, other times after 55 minutes. I can see the file growing on the server, and even open it there. A hard reset is required to bring back PCH. I never encountered the PCH going blank playing any type of file, so I thought using the native player will mitigate this issue too. When this happens while we are watching a favorite show, it is pretty annoying.

Finally sometimes mvpmxc2 will not start. I have 3 PCHs (with 3 instances configured in NPVR) and usually this happens when another PCH is running NPVR. The screen goes blank for 10-15 seconds and returns back to menu. Only after a restart of the recording service will this get resolved. Not much shows up in the logs. I even purchased a new tuner (HDHomeRun) to isolate PC/tuner issues, with little difference in the results. I may be a heavy user of your great program, but unfortunately the usability aspect has been declining.

Sorry to hear it but without logs there is nothing anyone can to do. I do know about this live TV hang issue and I have provided sub with logs several times since .36 came out. You may still need to keep using GBPVR I can live live with this problem.

The native player would not improve this at all. However earlier I did fix the minor problem to test your statement about navigation and mono would definitely not reverse or time seek in LiveTV mode, in fact it gave the triangle clearly showing it was not possible. Also mvpmcx2 would hang because this throwback to PCH mode doesn't work properly.

The reset problem is probably related to livetv hanging. This ties up a session and NRecord does not clean it up when you power off. I have also told sub that I feel NRecord hangs onto the client session "harder" than GBPVR used to. Rather then restarting the service I think you will find that killtask /IM NextPVR.exe /f will do a clean fast job of restarting the client.

The HDHR is overrated IMO, and I don't expect it would solve any problems.

Thanks for the explanation. I did not know LiveTV hanging is a known bug. I guess I was going in cycles with orphaned connections and no available server to start another PCH. Would increasing the # of servers fix this?

I am going to start a thread on the support forum for these issues: Live TV hanging, orphaned connections and seek in Live TV. I am hoping Sub would give them some more attention as they are critical to the viewing experience, especially the hanging problem.
