I have a Hauppauge HVR-4000 that I am trying to get to work with NextPVR, for viewing analog live tv. After I installed SoftPVR as desribed in the wiki I was able to successfully scan for channels but when I start NextPVR and click live tv all I get is a black screen and no sound. Tried with the different MPEG-2 encoders in the list including the HCW one (which I assume is SoftPVR) but nothing works. I have tried searching the forums but I can't find anything that helps me. I am using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 - could this be the cause of the problem? Did anyone get this setup working?

Reproduce the problem, them zip and attach the npvr.log and nrecord.log and I'll take a look.

No, Win7 64 bit is fine. Thats what I use.

So, I somehow got past the black screen after uninstalling and reinstalling both the drivers and software from the WinTV CD, a couple of times. However, when I finally got a picture the sound was completely distorted and the video was kinda jumpy (back and forth between frames). The program froze when I tried to change the aspect ratio (I think that's what I was doing) and I had to restart. Tried to load up WMC after I restarted and it worked with both picture and sound until I tried to change channel. Then I got the same problems as with NPVR. It turned out that the sound was distorted in all my other programs as well (VLC etc.) until I restarted. I'm guessing this is rather a driver issue than anything else? Now whenever I try to start live tv in NPVR I get "Unable to find available capture device" even though everything looks fine in the settings and it also works (albeit crappily) in WMC.

I guess I will have to fiddle with this a bit more - I will post here again if I get it working or give ut completely...
