Hey there - I got my HD PVR set up in NPVR just fine. Video works great, but I get no sound when making recordings. Here's a log from trying to record two channels for a few minutes.

What input source are you trying to use? If it's SPDIF, try setting <ForceSPDIF> to 'true' in your config.xml file.

Where in config.xml should that go? I don't see it in there right now - also, I have two other QAM tuners. Would setting this interfere with those working?

Edit: I found it. Silly me. Also I see it only affects the HDPVR

hey, it works. Thanks! Now I just have to get the channel changing working. Tongue

OK, stupid question: Where's my config.xml file?

I have a similar problem. When recording shows on HD channels, I get only the laugh track, although commercials are just fine. In the show, I get no sound other than the laugh track. Normal sound is there, but so low it can barely be heard.

I was going to try the above, but I don't have a config.xml file anywhere.

Are you using an HDPVR too, or some other device?

Yes you do have a config.xml. The sticky support thread shows the directory names for XP and Vista/Win7/Win8.

I'm using a Hauppage card that has both an analog and an HD tuner with NPVR 2.4.3

I found it, but not sure what if anything to change to fix this issue.

I suspect it's just something to do with the AC3 decoder youre using. It sounds like it's not mixing in all the audio channels. I'd try a different AC3 decoder.

I had problems with the audio on my installation recently also. It was working perfectly, shut down, restarted, and then no audio. I tried different AC3 Codec's with no help. I noticed that the video was not at 0:01 or 0:02 seconds, so I hit the ">|" Skip forward, and the sound returned!

As near as I can tell, even though the audio and video are coming from the same data stream, if the synchronization between the audio and video codec's is too far off, the audio is muted. I have noticed lip-sync problems in the past with my other computers. Using the "Skip" keys seems to resolve the problem.
