However, I think it starts waking up the computer at the time when the recording should start (or after taking into account any prepadding), so you should see to it that the prepadding is enough to let the computer start up before the show starts.

Yes,
GBPVR does wake systems from hibernation. However, there is a possibility that your particular system does not work. Take a look at the BIOS, whether "wake on real time clock", "wake on alarm" etc. is set. As far as I know that is needed to use this feature properly.

Who uses hibernation in combination with GBPVR for about a year!

I did try hibernation and could not get it to work. I did a workaround by enabling a wake from bios at 09:30 AM so that I could do a defrag and get my EPG. But.... when I hibernated with the button or let windows do it, it would not wake up to record a show etc. I did some research and tried standby. It worked..... So thats what I use. I guess it depends on your hardware.
