My box has been getting slower and slower for a long while now but last night things went wrong and I ended up deleting the channels and rescanning both satellite and terrestrial. This is kind of irrelevant but gives some background.
Today I was resetting up and went into the genres list and it is massive. The first 100 or so items are genuine genres, the rest are actually program descriptions. The whole thing including the picture that was in the background locked up for 5 minutes whilst the program populated the list! When it completed it was one of those lists where you page down but the scroll widget doesn't move far enough to notice suggesting a huge number of items in here.
My challenges are:
a) I do not know how they got in here (though I suspect it may be something to do with bad data in XMLTV via epgcollector that I used before the Freesat(UK) existed)
b) I do not know how to cull this list.
I have reset up the box using only the build in DVB/ATSC and Freesat(UK) listing providers so hopefully taken XMLTV out of the picture for now but still these entries persist. Could someone suggest how I can clear out the list? or give me advice on where these entries may be coming from.
