I just find it odd that everything works fine. Only the scan would not. The answer to a problem is always seems simple after you find it, I only wish I had tried it a long time ago. If this is a common issue it may be worth posting a wiki or a line in the instructions, maybe?

There is a "SiliconDust HDHomeRun" section in the sticky support thread that covers the couple of issues with these devices, including firewall.

Yes, and it notes allowing programs thru which I did. It was not until after I completely disabled the firewall did the scan work. BTW, the Nextpvr setting on the HDHR setup worked fine for me. I don't know why, maybe gremlins?

We'll, that implies your firewall changes weren't really allowing NextPVR unfettered network access. I'm not sure if that's because you did the settings wrong, or because of the firewall software you're running etc, but if you'd configured those named processes to be allowed full network access, then it would have achieved the same thing as disabling the firewall.
