Hi,
1) Just starting to use CC. Is there any way to change the position, font, color etc of the text? Mostly it sits at the top in front of people's faces.
2) I usually compress the recording to MP4 with ffmpeg which loses CC info. Can I add it back in a separate file (.srt?) and have NPVR display it?

Thanks,

Jim

Sorry, no - a Microsoft component is responsible for the rendering the Closed Captions, and we don't have any ability to control it's look or location.

NextPVR can display SRT subtitles if you have them in the directory with the recording. They need to have the same file name, but wit the .srt extension.

Funny, or typical, there is a page in settings to control closed captioning in windows 10. You can set a whole bunch of attributes. They have no effect on NPVR playback.

Where is the page? What attributes has it got on it?

There is an API for controlling a few things, and NextPVR is already using those for controlling stuff like making the background transparent, and refreshing when required etc. There isnt anything for controlling the position/font/color (other than background color).

Ah, right - I've not seen that before. It's not related to the standard Microsoft Closed Caption decoder that has been built into Windows for years. It's probably something like the closed captions decoder for internet video in their Edge browser or something.
