ive never tried two of these devices in the same machine. If the drivers work, then NextPVR should work with it.

If you wanted to post logs showing an attempt to use both, I’ll check what went wrong.

Does WinTV have an error log? (I've never looked...) I don't actually have NPVR installed on the machine I want to use yet - but when I do, I'll let you know. (Will be rather busy this weekend - with taking my partner to physiotherapy and picking up her new glasses on Saturday, and getting ready to go back to work on Sunday.)

Ah right - sorry, can't help with the WinTV logs. I was meaning NextPVR logs.

No worries. If you do end up giving it a shot, let me know.

In thinking it over - I wonder if WinTV is suitable for testing purposes. It may not be designed to work with more than one tuner/capture device - in which case, no matter what I do would let me check out the second card.

Martin - you mentioned steering me towards v5 - I'm guessing that it has the same ability to use a different channel-change executable per tuner device that v4 has? Even if I can't get the Hauppauge blaster to work with my setup, I can still use sub's usbuirtsend program to do the cable box... while I can control the satellite box via a serial connection. Now - like I said, I'm not a good beta-tester... but if it's stable enough for general use, I'm willing to give it a go. Otherwise, I'd prefer to stick with v4 for the time being - until you get v5 sufficiently stable for public use. Smile

I am using v5 on linux so the blasting to my tuners is different, i have two firewire and two lirc tuners. I have been using v5 for the whole fall season and haven't lost a recording because of NextPVR. I did have one episode of Evil without sound, but my STB had to be powered off and on to get it back. I recently found an old install of v5 on a NAS that I forget about and it was up for 6 weeks happily updating the EPG daily and scheduling some recording so that certainly is set and forget.

WinTV is a good start, particularly since sub was the other of previous versions over several years, but as he posted he never tested two Colossi I'd go There is a filter check program in v4 that can be handy just to see if Windows sees both your devices. If sub does have a to make any change to see two devices assuming the Hauppauge drivers support it, then that change would probably be in v5.

I've been using v5 as my production server for several months now. At this point I would concur with Martin that any new installations should be using v5 unless there are some extenuating circumstances.

I think I know what I did wrong - and I'm kicking myself over such a stupid mistake. In order to start Live TV on one card, I have to shut it off on the other.

(I'll test this tomorrow...)

Martin - regarding using V5... would you suggest I use the 64-bit version or the 32-bit? Is there a major difference?

I found with transcoding 64bit ffmpeg was a few percent more efficient.

Doubtful that will be an issue with me - as I will likely be limited to 3-4 clients (if that...) Given that NPVR doesn't directly control the channel-changing, I suspect that there won't be an issue with a 64-bit program executing a 32-bit program... but I may just err on the side of caution to begin with, and change later.
