After installing my Hauppauge Colossus 2 and AverMedia C027 capture cards, I went through the Wiki instructions for how to add analog devices. After installing the SoftPVR suite, the Hauppauge card is recognized. I next ran FilterCheck to find the AverMedia card, but I'm not sure how to proceed with the results I got.

I've attached the FilterCheck log file (renamed as txt) and would appreciate any advice provided.

Dumb question time - since both cards have HDMI inputs, will I be able to use them once the cards are recognized? Or am I restricted to the composite/component inputs?

Thanks in advance...

SoftPVR is only for SD analog devices. For HD capture sub only supports the Hauppauge compatible devices If you can create a graph for the Acer with graph edit you might be able to do a work around using other software but it is going to be a hack.

It looks like you haven't installed the Hauppauge drivers for the Colossus. After they're installed, you should see the device listed on the Settings->Devices screen.

The AverMedia C027 is unlikely to be visible or work with NextPVR.

(Apologies for the double-reply - I forgot that responses were moderated...)

I have to laugh at my situation - if I use two Colossus cards that I know work with NPVR, I can't find an IR blaster that will work with them. The Hauppauge driver can't distinguish between the two, and IRSS can only keep track of one set of codes.

Hauppauge's IR subsystem only supports a single blaster. From memory it is always assumed to be on the last device installed.

Interesting. That might be workable, after all...

Follow-up to this old thread...

I've installed two Colossus 2 cards in my PC - but my testing with WinTV leads me to the conclusion that I'm currently unable to access the second card. The Windows 10 Device Manager sees both cards, and WinTV sees them both... but I'm unable to switch to the second card when I want to watch something from the cable box.

I've contacted Hauppauge Technical Support to see what they have to say, but I was curious if anyone here had encountered a similar problem... and if they had found a solution.

If WinTV sees two cards, NextPVR should see two cards.

I will steer you to v5 though you are a new user who is planning to use Kodi as client and v5 is a better choice.

It *sees* two cards, yes - but since WinTV only seems to access one properly, I assumed that it would be a driver issue.

Is v5 stable enough to use on a regular basis? My understanding was that it was still in beta-testing, and not quite ready for general usage.

yes it should be fine for regular use. I’ll probably drop the ‘beta’ tag in the next release.
