Its a pretty general error message that means '*something* went wrong'.

If it happens when you try to access live tv, it probably means you've got your capture source configured information

Well I got this same message when I went in to record something. It happened after I changed skins and I went back to the original "Blue" skin and everything worked fine - hope this helps
