"You can always get a Linksys WRT54G, put HyperWRT or OpenWRT on it and make it a bridge for about $40 after MIR. That's not bad, IMHO."

This is also my setup. Old WRT54G as the Bridge, and a new one as the Router. WDS (which goes 1/2 speed apparently, but should still be OK with G) Am using the HyperWRT firmware (which I prefer as it doesn't change the Linskys look).

Good setup ideas here:

Only thing I am not sure of is why I can see Live TV on the PC but not on the TV :-(

Can I ask someone who has this working what the Firewall settings are in their router?

Cheers

Yowee! My setup is almost exactly the one you called "best one!" Except I am using WRT54GS. Makes me feel good - I spent so much time to get everything working. I posted all my experiences on the SVEASOFT forum if anybody wants to see the details. (Edit: seems you have to log in to see the forum posts - probably worth it as there are a couple of MVP related threads).

Last time I used GBPVR, I could see TV on the MVP. On the main router, both firewall and DHCP are ON. On the bridged (WDS mode) router, both firewal and DHCP are DISABLED. Also, I have disabled all my Windows XP firewalls.

Glad to know you got it set up well.

Might be useful to edit your post to add a link to your SVEAsoft experience, so others can follow this thread for Wireless enablement with the MVP.

Cheers

I'm having a great experience with a Belkin Wireless AP/Extender and a MediaMVP. No lag in live TV, and both MP3s and NetRadio working like a charm.

I posted the details on my blog...

Definitely the most simple and elegant solution!

Actually you reminded me - that was where I started, using both Linksys and dLink wireless APs with varying sucess. I'll bet that if I had noticed that my server was underpowered and upgraded it FIRST, I would be using your solution also! Anyway, no turning back now!
