I'm currently trying out two different cards with GB-PVR and have the following problems:

1. PVR-150 - I'm seeing a green "fringing" effect that is noticable on video source programs and is mostly seen on the left side of people's faces. Depending on the lighting and contrast of the scene, it sometimes appears that someone a green line on the side of the subjects face. Is anyone seeing this and have a suggestion to possibly eliminate this abberation?

2. ATI Wonder Elite - I'm getting very noticable motion artifacts. More so than the PVR-150. Is there anyway to make an adjustment or tweek to the card?

The cards are not used at the same time. Any assitance is greately appreciated.

Regarding #1 - seems more like a signal degradation problem (at least that's my experience), but I'd like to hear what the more experienced users would say. So -
1. What's the video source? Cable/Antenna or composite/s-vid?
2. How is the other card connected? A splitter? Separate feed for different source?
If #1 is cable/antenna and #2 is splitter, I'd test if the green fringing happens also when only the 150 is connected.

Regarding motion artifacts, can you explain? Is it playback artifacts only? If you record and play the file on a different PC (or directly on a PC monitor instead of TV) does it play well?

The source for both cards is Cable. The green fringing only occurs with the PVR-150. With the ATI card, the best way I can explain the motion artifacts is to look at a person's face. When the face moves quickly, there is a "blurring" or blockiness effect. Objects not in motion do not have this problem.

The problems with both cards are very apparent when viewing on a TV monitor, not a computer monitor.

Again, only one card is used at a time.

I'd say it still sounds like a signal problem.

First, disconnect one card while using the other. Try to have a single cable from the source all the way to your card. Does it still happen?

If you record a show, and then play it back - do you see the problem?
If you play it back on a computer monitor too?

The effect you describe with the ATI sounds like a problem of setting the bitrate a bit too low. Try to increase the recording quality settings.
