Hi again,

Just a question, and perhaps depending on the response it should go in the Wishlist forum... but I was wondering if gbpvr has the ability to play back raw DVD files (.ifo, .bup, .vob)? I was thinking about ripping some of my dvd's to my hard drive just to have them easily accessable through gbpvr, but when I tried to play them back, it could not see them? MPEG2 playback is fine, I was just wondering if this is currently possible or not?

Sorry for the newbie questions. Rolleyes thanks again.

Yes, it should work assumming your not using an MVP or PVR350. I play DVDs from my hard disk all the time.

I leave them in the original structure they're ripped in, including have the VIDEO_TS directory, then play them from the video library.

Damn, you've gotta be kidding me! I SOOOO taking back my PVR350. Piece of crap.

DVD playback won't even work in software mode? I did get Live TV to work in software mode by the way, like you recommended. The quality was crap though, but I guess that's the fault of my video card.

If you're using the PVR350's tv out then you wont be able to watch DVDs. If you're only using the PVR350 as a capture device, and viewing via a regular video card, then you should be able to view a DVD.

what a rip! I have some questions for the people over at byopvr. There's tons of people on that site recommending the PVR-350, and it's nothing but trouble.

?? Works great here. What troubles do you have? Video out for some things needs overlay support of an AGP card, but I think that's true for many cards, depending on your PVR software. GBPVR is one of the only ones that has support for software menus on the 350's TV-out, and for that I'm very grateful.

I have a G-force card with s-video out; going to give it a try tonight. I bought it as a component of my newly-built system after researching the PVR thing based on the MythTV.org support site/recommendations/forums/whatever.

IIRC the other cards (ATI usually) have more 3rd-party support for overlay on the digitizer's video out, but there are other trade-offs re: tuner, video quality, etc. I guess I don't mind having to think about using the AGP card output 'cos I read about this going in and planned for it.

There *is* a video_ts player plugin for the MVP card (XDVD maybe? I forget the name); I was going to try that and see if it would work on the 350, but likely not (anyone care to comment?).
