I hosed my GBPVR installation, and of course I didn't have it backed-up. I reinstalled, and have been trying to get it back to the way it was, but I'm having trouble with my MVP.

Even though I have GBPVR configured to autostart 1 MVP server (using the config app), the only way to get the MVP to connect is to manually start one, using the shortcut "GB-PVR MediaMVP Server" in the GBPVR start menu group. Otherwise, I just get the "Connecting to server..." message on the MVP.

I am using GBPVR version 95.16. I re-downloaded it from the wiki at http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR09516.msi to make sure I had a good copy of the latest version. I have attached a zip of all of the appropriate log files from my gbpvr directory.

Thank you for your assistance.

Just curious, what skin are you using?

Can you see if it makes any difference using the blue skin? There is a funny error message I've not seen before in your logs about not being able to find a font, which maybe stopping it from fully starting.

I first noticed the problem after an experiment in tweaking XP, which involved uninstalling "unneeded" fonts. That didn't turn out so well, but I had backed-up my font directory, and reinstalled(I think) all the fonts I had before.

I switched to the Blue skin for both GBPVR and the MVP. After the message box about restarting the recording service went away, the pointer of my mouse kept switching back and forth between normal and "busy", i.e. with an hourglass next to it. I opened procexp (a taskmanager-like app), and it showed GBPVR.exe starting and stopping every second or so. I could start the GBPVR interface on my pc, but still no-go on the MVP.

Another thing, whenever I try to access the webadmin page(I have enhanced webadmin v31 installed), the recording service crashes. It does this with both the Collection and Blue skins.

Before I asked for help, I tried everything I could think of (short of reformatting and reinstalling XP). I tried doing a "repair" reinstall of GBPVR, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it a few times. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling both .NET 2.0 & 1.1.

I have attached the latest logfiles, and the box that appeared when I tried to access the webadmin page.

I dont know what you've managed break. From the look of the gbpvr.exe.log, I'm thinking may a corrupt config.xml file. It might be best to uninstall GB-PVR, delete the gbpvr directory, then reinstall.

I had already done that, but I tried it again, and it didn't help.

Do you have an md5 or other type of checksum file for the installer file, so that I can be sure the problem isn't due to a corrupted download? It doesn't seem likely, but I can't think of anything else.

Did you actually delete the "gbpvr" directory between the uninstall and reinstall? In the logs looks like its having a problem trying to upgrade an old file.

tipstir Wrote:Uninstall GBPVR. Next Go into you C:\Program Files and look for devnz folder and rename that to devnz_old. Now Download http://www.ccleaner.com (ccleaner) and run the feature ISSUES, don't backup anything just continue, then reboot your PC. Once back in run GBPVR9516.MSI again. Once you have installed GBPVR. Go to your MVP and unplug the network cable. Now after you configured GBPVR reconnect the network cable. If you have a switch unplug it then replug it. Now try it again. This is what I have to do too get GBPVR and MVP working again.

Thanks! That got it working again! Smile
