Okay, for some reason, I figured that change would be easy, but can you give me a quick tip as to what number controls what within the aspect ratio settings?

Also, my default ratio now seems to be a 2 Centimeter thick black frame around the entire picture. Which ratio setting is the default?

Well, I got the frame to go away for the time being. I switched from the NVidia PureVideo decoders that I was testing out to the CyberLink ones that were installed with PowerDVD and although the picture quality is just very slightly worse, it now does not have the thick black frame.

I guess it'll save me $20 in the long run! Smile

Hi Weisguy,

Thanks for the tip, that thread looks to be exactly what I am looking for. I'm not too familiar with making changes in the config.xml file, but I'm going to try my hand at it hopefully tonight! Do you know if the top aspect ratio in the file is the default one?

The order in which they are listed in the config.xml file is the order they cycle, yes. Because GBPVR remembers the aspect ratio last used, you may no longer be using the top one at this time if you have pressed F7 to cycle through the various ratios.

Thanks for your help WeisGuy, I just must be missing something because anytime I make any changes to the aspect ratios in the config.xml file, the aspect ratios I end up with are all wacked out. I tried to make 0,-0.01,1,1 be the Aspect0 number (because I do have that line of static across the top of some stations) and your other two aspect ratios as 1 and 2 respectively (16:9 & 2:85:1), then commenting out the rest of the aspect ratios using an exclamation point. I did end up with just three aspect ratios to choose from, so I believe the commenting out worked fine, but all of the aspect ratios were kind of squished over to the left 2/3 of the screen with a bunch of static-y looking stuff around it. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

I'm using VMR9 and I did notice that there were three overlay ratios in that section of the config.xml file, but I did not alter them at all. Does this maybe have something to do with it?

Thanks for any help!

Here's a quick look at what I currently have, exactly, in my config.xml.

* be sure to restart gb-pvr after you make changes
* note where the exclamation point appears to correctly indicate a comment
* note the third line down in which I have replaced the first close bracket with a squiggly bracket. this is necessary because as soon as the XML parser encouters a close bracket, it thinks the comment is over. I replaced it to remind me where to re-insert the bracket if I ever re-enable that ratio.

If you have any questions or if you're still not getting anywhere, send me a PM

<!-- Aspect Ratio settings -->
<AspectRatio0>0,-0.01,1,1</AspectRatio0>
<!-- AspectRatio1}0,-0.125,1,1.125</AspectRatio1 -->
<AspectRatio1>0,0.125,1,0.875</AspectRatio1>
<AspectRatio2>0,0.2,1,0.8</AspectRatio2>

Ahhh-Haaaa! I bet that is my problem! Replacing or deleting the close bracket! I can't wait to try it out tomorrow if I get the chance. Thank you very much for the tip and I will report back when I have a chance to test it out again. Smile
