Ok, everyone, I am having a major issue here. I've read some stuff on the board about this, but I'm not sure if I understand the problem and/or the solution correctly. Basically, in

order for the PVR-150 driver to work, I have to turn off hardware acceleration on ASUS's video card driver. If I have hardware acceleration turned on, GB-PVR will report some internal

error and then later report no capture devices present(WinTV2000 bombs too). Without hardware accerelation turned on, I can't get to the TV out functionality of the card. This card is

PCI-E BTW. I called hauppauge and they said this can occur and is caused by the video card's hardware acceleration taking up too much bandwidth. People have been talking on the board

about the VMR modes, but I am using Overlay because the GB-PVR documentation said that overlay was my only choice for Win2k(Why?, Is this really true?). Also, I vauguely remember seeing

some driver/utility for the MB that I don't think I loaded for, besides for other things(Raid?), helping the NForce chipset direct PCI-E signals optimallty. Is something like this

required.

I'm not sure what direction to turn here. What should I try next? Has anybody else resovled this issue? Should I just look for an ATI9550(Non-ASUS) card?

Sorry, I cant help you with your problem, but one comment...
Quote:the GB-PVR documentation said that overlay was my only choice for Win2k(Why?, Is this really true?).
If you've got DirectX9 installed, and your card is up to it, then you should also be able to use VMR9.

This appears to be a hardware issue or conflict.

There are many reports on other forums of MSI K8N motherboard problems with Nvidia cards (do a google search).

Start with the basics:
1) Is your PSU big enough for the load? Measure or calculate the current or wattage draw from all the components and ensure the PSU rails can deliver that. Check the +12v, +5v and +3.3v rails are operating at those voltages.
2) Ensure you are using the latest BIOS, motherboard drivers, Nvidia driver and Hauppauge driver.
3) Look in Windows Device Manager for any exclamation marks or resource conflicts in the relevant drivers.

Do you really this is the power supply? What experience have you had to think this? The system doesn't appear to be unstable, infact its been on for 5 days straight now. One thing I noticed was that the manual said it wanted >18A on the 12V line, and the power supply that came with the case is only rated for 14A. PCI problems are related to the 3.3 volt line I thought.

Secondly, If I wanted to start trying different drivers/video cards, will my functioning GB-PVR continue to work properly using the default windows display drivers while I'm in between video drivers and/or video cards? Or will replacing the video card mess up the GB-PVR configuration or even the PVR-150 confiruration, so that I would have to put all my recording schedules and configuration info back in?

I've changed video cards a number of times and it's never affected gbpvr
just have to find the right method for that card overlay,vrm7 or vrm9

I pretty sure vrm9 will never work in 2000 it's not set up for it.
I'd switch to xp if I where you vrm9 works alot better for me and smoother than overlay.

It was just a simple fundamental question. Low rail voltages give erratic performance, and spikey loads (eg harddrives) on marginal PSU's do the same. Some video cards are more sensitive to voltage sags than others. My 6600GT is very sensitive and PSU problems are well know and documented on Nvidia forums. If you are sure that your PSU is satisfactory, then ignore this comment.

GBPVR configuration will be unaffected, but any custom settings on your PVR150 and video card will be defaulted (lost). You cannot guarantee GBPVR will work correctly while you are making changes, however it should work correctly after completion of the updates.
