This is not a problem topic, just information.

I have a low powered GBPVR [I]SERVER.[I] It has a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 mobile processor in a 478 motherboard running at 1.5 GHz.

I only use a MVP for watching live tv and recorded shows, the server is in the attic and has no keyboard or monitor attached.

I read about setting the ForceHighPriorityRecordingService in config.xml to HIGH and wondered what it would do to my system.

My MVP has always been a bit slow to react to commands from the remote, I always figured it was because of my slow system. I changed the recording service to high and rebooted my server.

What a difference, the MVP boots up as normal but the speed of the menus and the response of the commands from the remote increased enormously. The web interface also used to be a little slow but now loads and starts immediately.

The setting has transformed my system from a bit slow to a very fast and very enjoyable home media system.

My GBPVR server configuration is as follows:

CPU : Pentium 4-M 2.4 Ghz at 1.5 Ghz.
Motherboard : AOpen AX4PER
Memory : 1 GB
Harddisks : Recordings 330 GB
: Live tv and Archive 240 GB
: System and Photos 160 GB

The CPU is always running at 3 degrees (centigrade) lower than the motherboard (except when virus scanning). I am able to reduce the Core voltage on the motherboard to suit the CPU.

The server is always on, and I am trying what I can to lower the power consumption as much as I can.

If you have the time to change the setting, I think you would see an immediate difference.

Have fun.

I use it too, otherwise I find recordings can skip if my PCs doing other things at the same time. I'll probably build a dedicated machine for it some day, in the meantime I'm going to upgrade to dual core in a few weeks (probably a 3800+ and overclock it), that should give it the extra power it needs Smile.
