This same question was asked quite some time ago by someone else, but I'm asking again, just in case there is some new information...

Any thoughts on how I might get an Asus TV-FM 7135 working with GBPVR? I don't even care too much for the tuner, if I could just get the S-vid or composite to work.

It's a second cap card, next to the Nova-T. It would be nice to be able to watch something else (manually even) through the external digi-box.

TIA

Sorry, this device lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder, so doesnt work with GB-PVR.

Hi - thanks for that.

'Scuse my ignorance on the matter - just getting to grips with this TV technology.

I was under the impression that only a few cards (like the PVR350/HVR1300) had MPEG2 encoders, and the all other cards used software and the PC's CPU to do the encoding???

Few capture card have DEcoders. In fact, the only one I can think of is the PVR350. Most modern cards have hardware ENcoders. There are literally dozens of thems.

All of these cards use the PC CPU to do the decoding.

decoding = playback, encoding = recording
